I recently found this page that can be used to translate messages to/from text, Binary, Hexadecimal, Base64, Dec/Char (what ever that is?). Anywho, it's pretty useful for sending confusing and often annoying messages to people, especially when you keep translating the message back and forth from one to the other until the final product is only just small enough to fit inside a facebook comment.

My Housemates are Vampires!

I think my house mates are Vampires!
"Why?" you ask? Well:

They come from Europe which has a long recorded history, full of vampires and other such creatures.
In fact, they come from Sweden! Stockholm to be precise. Home of the infamous 'Vampire Murder'.
They both arrived for the first time to my house late at night.
They both drink wine, vampires are noble and noble people drink wine.
The female is skinny and very pale. She studies biology and more precisely blood and viruses at the local hospital and Uni.
The male plays the violin. Violins being a classic instrument still enjoyed today by the upper class. Vampires, who live for hundreds if not thousands of years, are known to enjoy classical music.
The male also is a keen history buff, planning on teaching history to students. Vampires who as stated live for a long time, would be perfect for such a position as the individual vampire could have been present throughout all of recorded history.
They leave the blinds closed during the day but up at night!
Those two wine glasses currently on the sink have a suspicious looking red liquid in the bottom, not to mention the blood like stains all over the dishcloth!

I'm barricading myself in my bedroom tonight, if you don't hear from me for awhile you might as well assume I've been sucked dry or (hopefully) turned into a Vampire. If you simply MUST come looking for me make sure you arm yourself with the latest vampire weaponry before setting off towards your impending doom.

So according to a facebook event, the 4th of May is Star Wars Day. Obviously due to the whole "May the Forth be with you" pun.

Anywho, in honour of this day I'd like to take the opportunity to set the record straight:

Everyone always comes up to me and says "Luke, I am your father!" many of them actually believe this is a direct quote from the movie, but they are wrong. The real quote is below and the scene can easily be looked up on youtube.

The Evolutionary Advantage of Liking Ugly Girls

A study at the University of Valencia (in Spain) has came up with some interesting findings:

Male cortisol levels increased after exposure to a five-minute, short social contact with a young attractive woman. The levels increased to the point where they could damage the heart

NB: An increase of Cortisol indicates an increase in stress levels (more on Cortisol here).

If the man views the woman as 'out of their league' the cortisol levels can rise up high enough to induce a stroke or heart attack.

If the man gets the girl into a relationship, he is likely to have chronic levels of cortisol which can lead to impotence, myopathy, adult-onset diabetes or hypotension.

As such, I propose that it is an advantage for a guy to be attracted to 'ugly' girls, and THIS is the reason that I find myself attracted to girls that are unattractive.

Although for that to be so we'd need to ignore the assumption that selection would not favour ugly people (on that note: Why Evolution Doesn't Get Rid of Ugly People?).

I've often seen people post facebook status updates telling people to hit certain buttons to make something or other happen. Most of them don't work and I personally consider them to be spam.

But this one does! And to prove it (as If I was you, I wouldn't just take someones word for it) I've posted a screenshot!

Now, I'm going to be honest, it took me 6 tries to get this screenshot, but it does work. It's a famous cheat code called the Konami Code.

Extramarital Sex Causes Earthquakes in Iran

The Islamic dress code (which is mandatory in Iran) states that women must cover their hair and bodily contours in public. However some women have not been following these strict rules. These women have supposedly led young men astray and resulted in sex (outside of marriage). As punishment, God has been shaking the earth and killing thousands of Iran's citizens.

The prayer leader, Hojatoleslam Kazim Sadeghi, says women and girls who "don't dress appropriately" spread "promiscuity in society."
"When promiscuity spreads, earthquakes increase," he says in a video posted Monday on YouTube, apparently of him leading Friday prayers in Tehran, Iran, last week.

So all those earthquakes that have been occuring in Iran are due to people having sex and not due to the fact that Iran is on a fault line. Hmmm....

The Varying Levels of Exposure

Ignoring the ludicrousness of the Clerics speech, it does raise an interesting idea:

The reason the women who aren't covering themselves are leading men astray is because all the other women are covered! The men aren't used to that amount of exposure.

The level of exposure is probably no where near as that which you would experience on a typical Australian beach. And yet, we aren't being led astray everytime we do go to the beach. and we most certainly aren't offended! We are used to it!

Although most of us aren't used to seeing everyone walk around naked in the streets... Imagine Ancient Sparta. The women are exercising naked in the field, and yet there isn't a horde of Spartan men watching or chasing after them, because... they are used to that level of exposure. But put an average Australian in that same situation and he will most certainly be distracted.

How to make Jelly Shots

The last few parties I've been to I'd make Jelly Shots. You can never make enough!
I made >80 for my B'Day party in 2009, they were gone pretty quick. And that night was a huge success (possibly helped by the four Sambuca shots and four Vodka shots I had between jelly shots).

Anywho...

How to make Jelly Shots:

1 x Sachet of Jelly Crystals
1 cup of boiling water
0.5 cup of alcohol (I prefer Vodka)
0.5 cup of cold water
Shot glasses (I prefer plastic disposable ones)

Optional: Toothpicks (useful at getting the jelly out of the shot glasses, but I've seen quite a few different techniques used that don't include tooth picks).

Mix 1 sachet of jelly crystals with 1 cup of boiling water until all crystals have been dissolved.
Add half a cup of Vodka and half a cup of cold water and mix well.
Pour mixture into disposable shot glasses
Place shot glasses into the fridge overnight*

*I leave them in the fridge overnight to set, but after a few hours they should be fine for consumption.

Bear Shot Because People are Idiots

This man decided to jump into a bears enclosure. Naturally the bear went straight for him. And sadly the police shot the bear in order to save the guys life.

Now the guy is either an idiot or wanted to be killed by a bear. So we should've let the bear kill the guy! Or if thats too horrific for the public to watch, just shoot the guy instead! It would have been a nicer death! and it's not the bears fault an idiot jumped in its enclosure!

According to The Herald Sun, the man sat on top of the wall of the enclosure for 10 minutes before jumping in. Which gave the police just enough time to get to the zoo and shows that he jumped in and is an idiot for sitting on the wall in the first case.

Let Natural Selection take its course....

Thankfully the bear survived.

Dust Storm Part 2

So there was another dust storm this morning. I slept through it though, but there were a few Facebook status updates about it, so I'm assuming it wasn't as big as the first one.

But, I found this really cool video of a different dust storm in Broken Hill (apparently the footage was taken on the 21st of December 2007).

The car drives into the storm during the day and it just goes as black as night!

So i woke up at around 6:30am this morning. I was meant to be awake at 7am. I think what woke me was the red glow seeping through the cracks in my blinds on my bedroom window. Or perhaps the redish glow coming from my lounge room.

Either way, it was very red outside. It was a dust storm, the biggest one I've seen here in Newcastle (they get big ones out west, but not usually this far east). It looked really cool outside, but once you go out there, it was just plain horrible. 60km/h winds (gusts up to 100km/h), and it felt weird breathing in when i was out there, i kept trying to just hold my breath.

By the afternoon the conditions were the same except for the red glow. So it was just crap.

Anywho, there were plenty of photo's of it on facebook, but i found a few on the net here

How to Steal Petrol (legally)

When ever I'm going to pay for petrol with cash, I always make sure the final price ends in 2cents (or 7c) (eg $50.02, $25.07, $10.52 etc). As they will round the price down (providing I pay with cash) to the next 5cents (ie $50, $25.05 $10.50 etc). That way your getting an extra 2 cents worth of petrol (an extra 15.4mL if the price is $1.30/L).

The Free Petrol Part
I'd never do this as its a huge waste of time, and crazily stupid. But....
Basically go to as many petrol stations as you can and keep getting 2cents worth of fuel. They will round it down, so it will be free.

Details to be considered:

WALK - Don't drive your car, as you will use more petrol driving between stations, then you will be getting from the stations
Don't keep going to the same petrol station, as they will probably get really annoyed and eventually lock the pump when you try to use it. The ideal area would have a lot of petrol stations in close proximity.
The petrol pumps may not be accurate enough to disperse 15.4mL, and may actually give you nothing at all (need to test this).
It would be far more worth your while if you went to work instead of doing this, as you'd make way more money.

Nostalgic In The City

Went out into Newcastle last night for dinner and drinks.
Had a nice dinner at The Clarendon Hotel, then went to the Hotel CBD. Wasn't that good, was too early, no one was dancing, and the music was too loud to talk. Two out of the four of us bailed and went home, which left Jenna and I. We ended up going to one of the clubs we used to hang out at when we just turned 18. It was The Underground.

They have good music to dance to, or you can sit and listen to it (lots of popular ones, heaps of classics). Ended up sitting upstairs in front of the fire talking. It was a bit nostalgic actually seeing the club like that. Back before the 'lock-out' was introduced, and shots were banned, we'd always come here and do our traditional Sambuca shots. We'd have 6 or so shots, and then we'd be set and dancing like crazy. Now, if you don't do pre-drinks, it becomes too expensive to get drunk... and then you have to be careful of not overdoing pre-drinks, as you need to actually get past the bouncers!

That was about four years ago. Back then we never would have thought I'd have my own apartment in Newcastle, or Jenna would be living in Sydney, or my brother having a baby. Hell, I was actually excited last month when I brought myself a brand new saucepan!

I honestly don't know what the old me (of 2005) would think if he met the new me of 2009. Although, i do know the 2000 me would be pretty happy!

I had to copy and paste it all as msnspace does not have an export feature. I posted them so that the dates of the posts are the same as the original, BUT unfortunately i couldn't change the dates/times of the comments, so it will look like all of those comments were made today.

I put the name of the commenter and links to their msn profile (most of which, like mine, haven't been used for years)in too, is that just a little weird? ... a little creepy? Cause some of those people I don't even know anymore I'd like to get back in contact with them though, the question is, how?

Apparently a gang of pensioners in Germany (aged 60-79) kidnapped their financial advisor who lost around >$4 million. They ambushed him, locked him in their boot, burned him with cigarettes and beat him until his ribs broke.

I feel sorry for the bloke, but do find it somewhat amusing, especially when he said

“Then they bound me like a mummy with masking tape. It took them quite a while because they ran out of breath.”

Senator Fielding (Family First) rejects Climate Change

He's refusing to vote for the scheme because he reckons global temperatures aren't rising and he doesn't want to risk any jobs by voting for the emission scheme.

Hasn't he heard of the Precautionary Principle!!

It also happens to be one of the reasons i joined the 'Voting for family first is voting for a bullet to the head' facebook group.

Party Tax Rules

In some circumstances, when a person attends a party and brings food or drinks to that party they do not take left overs home. The left over food that is kept at the hosts home is referred to as 'Party Tax' in this post(but I am looking for a better name though).

Preferred Method

There are many different types of hosts and guests at party's, and some operate by the less preferred party tax rule others do not. Those who do not follow the party tax rule, usually operate in the following way:

When hosting a party all food and drinks that guests brought with them to the party are given back to that guest at the end of the party. Any left over food that the host made/brought is often offered to guests at the party to take home as well.
When attending a party as a guest, food brought with you to that party is taken home, as it is your food not the hosts.

Rules for Party Tax
However others operate under the less preferred 'Party Tax' rule...

I think there should be some rules for this tax controlling when this tax occurs. The following is my personal rules for 'Party Tax'.

1. Left over food may be taken home if one of these rules apply:
i. The guest who brought them is a low income earner and can barely afford their own food

2. Left over drinks may be taken home if one of these rules apply:
i. The guest who brought them is a low income earner and can barely afford their own drinks
ii. The drink in question is worth more than $20
iii. The sum of the cost of all drinks brought by the guest is over $20
iv. The party was held at a mutual location, where one of the following occurred
a) There was no host
b) The host did not own or rent the land the party was held on

3. Left over food/drink cannot be taken home if:
i. Any of the rules above do not apply, AND the guest is filthy rich

4. If a host attempts to enforce the Part Tax rule on a guest, the guest has the following
responsibility:
i. To collect food from the hosts fridge, freezer and/or cupboards to take home as
punishment.
a) The maximum amount of food to be taken home is limited by the amount the guest
can carry
i) No tools (e.g. Bags) can be used, only the guests body.
b) If the guest cannot carry out their responsibility, they must assign another guest to
carry out this responsibility in their stead. do so
i) The only reason this responsibility can be transferred, is due to a medical
condition
ii) The newly assigned person must carry the food to the original guests vehicle

Remember
'Party Tax' is the least preferred method of the two stated here, and not all people operate under this rule. In fact, the majority of people I have questioned do not, but due to a minority still using the 'Party Tax', I thought a set of rules was needed to prevent the unfortunate from being ripped off.

Telemarketer called me a "Fruit loop"

The Telemarketers Call
At around 2:15pm today i received a call that lasted 51 seconds from a Telemarketer on 0862102310.

The Telemarketer was trying to give me a 'free' Telstra 3G Mobile phone. When I asked her why, she responded by calling me a "Fruit loop" and stated that it was free. The call was ended soon after that comment.

My Complaint
After a quick google of that number i discovered that there are a lot of sites with people complaining about them. Two sites in particular were Who Calls Me.com and a Telstra Whirlpool forum. Reading these sites i discovered the company that called me was the TSA Telco Group. So i made a formal complaint using their feedback form.

Results of my Complaint
At 3:02pm i recieved a phone call from TSA Telco Group on 0734217610. The mans name was Dennis. I explained what happened on the call. He said the particular girl who called me will be "pulled off the phones" for the rest of today and will be personally spoken to. He mentioned something about her needing re-training too.

While i don't completely trust Dennis or believe what he said will happen, i am satasfied as i got results quickly AND he was nice about it (as they should be!).

Usually if someone calls me a 'fruit loop' i'd just laugh. But if that someone happens to be a telemarketer trying to trick me into a dodgy contract with Telstra, i'll use any means possible to get revenge.
Especially when the company is well known for their harassing calls and dodgy deals.

When Monkeys Attack!

I've noticed a few monkey attacks in the news lately.

Travis' Vicious Attack:
Travis the famous chimpanzee attacked a friend of his owner (causing significant facial injuries) and then turned on a police officer who shot (and killed) Travis in self defence.

Santino's Plots To Move on Spectators :
Santino the chimpanzee who lives at Furuvik Zoo, in Sweden, doesn't seem to like the crowds that watch him. In order to get them to move on, he would throw stones at the spectators. He would collect the stones when the zoo was shut, and place them in piles around his pen for when the zoo opens. In order to get enough stones to throw he would actually break the concrete floor with his fist to create more stones!

Even more interesting is that:

"his behaviour has led scientists to conclude that premeditation is not a uniquely human trait.

It seems chimpanzees, too, are capable of planning, and have a sophisticated understanding of past and future. The chimp is also furtive about his behaviour, as if he knows he is being sneaky."

Brother Kwan's Self Defence:
A man in Thailand bought a monkey to collect coconuts from trees.

The animal – named Brother Kwan – found the work tedious and strenuous but Mr Janchoom refused to let him rest, dishing out beatings if he refused to climb trees.

So naturally the monkey threw a coconut at the man from a tree, which killed him on the spot. Personally, I side with the monkey in this case, I'd definitely do the same. I just wish the article indicated what happened to the monkey after the police figured out what had happened.

The Great Ape Project

Catholic Church on Rape Abortions

9 year old Brazilian girl was 4 months pregnant with twins. She has been sexually abused and raped by her stepfather since the age of 6. Doctors who feared for her life due to her small size performed the procedure to abort the twins.

Now the Church is going to excommunicate the mother and doctors for this abortion. Simply because:

Failure of the Pakistani Police Force

On the 3rd of March the Sri Lanken Cricket team was attacked near the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan. I'm not making this post to talk about the terrorist attack, or to criticise the substandard security efforts or even to lay blame on religion for this attack.

I have however noticed in several television news reports that a police officer survived the attack by laying on the ground and pretending to be dead. On the news, I saw footage of (what I believe to be this police officer) laying still on the ground and being approached by other men. He suddenly jumps up with his hands in the air as though he was happy to be alive (understandably). The last report I heard before coming to work mentioned that another police officer was hiding during the attack in a bush... I will try to track down an online source referring to these two incidents.

If I was a passer by, I too would have done one of these two things (probably a combination of the both). But a police officer has a sworn duty to uphold the law. It is my understanding that they were specifically in that location to help protect the Sri Lanken team from an attack. Rather than hide behind a bush or pretend to be dead, I'm sure they could have done something more useful like point and shoot that gun of theirs.

If that is how they react in the face of danger, then I strongly recommend they consider a change in career. These police officers are now going to have to live with this for the rest of their lives.

Killer Asteroid, are we prepared?

I just read that an Asteroid named '2009 DD45' came within 72,000 km of hitting Earth on Monday. It's size was estimated to be 21-47 m across. The news article that brought this to my attention also mentions that

The estimated size is similar to that of an asteroid or comet that exploded above Tunguska, Siberia, on June 30 1908, flattening 80 million trees in a swathe of more than 2,000 square kilometres.

I remember doing a bit of research into the Tunguska incident a year ago, it's actually quite interesting. But anyway, wikipedia tells us that the Tunguska comet was

about 1,000 times as powerful as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan

Now I'm no expert, but that is pretty powerful, and most likely pretty dangerous too. Imagine if it would have hit Earth in a populated area, or even unpopulated!

This got me thinking about the movie Armageddon that I recently watched. In the movie they attempt to drill into the asteroid and plant a nuclear bomb to prevent it from hitting Earth.

But what would happen if an asteroid was actually discovered on an orbit that would collide with earth? An asteroid that has the potential of causing millions of deaths, or perhaps the end of life as we know it? Would we be able to defend ourselves?

On a side note: Imagine the possibility of uniting all people on earth against this one common 'enemy'!!

But the question is, will we survive? I've had a look on wiki, and found a page with a few ideas of ways of deflecting asteroids off of an Earth colliding orbit. There a wide range of ideas from the conventional (nuclear weapons) to some other fairly creative ideas like attaching a solar sail to the asteroid to shift its orbit or even placing propulsion devices onto the asteroid to change its orbit.

I just hope we will have developed a technique in time...

My Evolutionary Adaptation

I seem to have evolved the ability to sense what the weather is like outside. Even when the blinds are closed and i cant hear anything outside, i seem to sleep in more frequently when the weather is crap... I simply can't manage to get myself out of bed. When the weather is good, i am more likely to possess the strength to get myself out of bed.

This adaptation would help me as I'd be less likely to get sick from the cold/rain. Plus another possible advantage of having this adaptation (which needs further study) is that I'm not wasting any energy, which due to the weather, can't be easily replaced (hunting not as easy in rain?).

Interdimensional Coat Hanger Thieves

In my house for as long as I can remember our coat hangers always go missing. We always buy more coat hanger, but they always seem to go missing, even though we haven't brought that many new clothes. At first I assumed that someone else in my house must have taken them from my wardrobe but after further investigation, they too are short on coat hangers. I've also asked a few friends, and their coat hangers also seem to go missing too!

The Facts
Coat hangers appear to be going missing from house holds all around the world. But not ALL households!
The only evidence of someone stealing these coat hangers is the lack of coat hangers! I.e. no broken locks, no opened windows... nothing!

My Theory
I believe that there are interdimensional portals that for some reason are only in some peoples homes. I have lived in three different houses, and have always had the problem of missing coat hangers. So perhaps, these portals can only be created or sustained in the presence of certain people. When these people sleep, a type of energy is emitted, which, after building up to a certain level, allows a multidimensional portal to be created, therefore allowing these creatures to access our dimension and take our coat hangers.

Now I'm not sure why they steal coat hangers. Perhaps they are worth a lot in their dimension, or are using them in experiments, or maybe by stealing our coat hangers they are actually keeping the fabric of space-time from ripping and ultimately destroying both of our dimensions. Or maybe they have a lot of clothes and simply find it more economically viable to travel through interdimensional portals to steal our coat hangers instead of manufacturing their own. What ever the reason, I have a plan to find out...

The Plan
Tonight I went through my wardrobe and threw out a lot of old clothes. Because of this I now have a huge supply (at least 20) of spare hangers. This pile would be irresistible to any of these interdimensional creatures. It consists of 3 different colours, 5 different types of the plastic variety and 2 padded coat hangers. And if the sheer number of coat hangers isn't enough to attract them, I have even managed to include an extremely rare hanger, called the 'pants-hanger'.

Now, my plan is to use this irresistible collection of coat hangers in a trap. Tonight, after publishing this, I will construct a trap to capture one of these interdimensional creatures. In the morning I will question the creature, and post my findings immediately. As a matter of ethics, i will allow the creature to return to it's own dimension after i have questioned it, and in the interest of interdimensional peace i will attempt to initiate trade, talk and the sharing of knowledge between our two dimensions.

A Warning !!!
If I do not post an update within the next 7 days, it will be safe to assume that I am dead. I can only hope that my actions tonight do not result in the creatures attacking other humans as revenge.
If they do not, if there are no reports of missing people, unexplained deaths, or interdimensional creatures invading this dimension, then I can only request that for your own safety you do not attempt what I will attempt tonight. Carry on with your lives, ignore the missing coat hangers, do not attempt to capture, communicate or even travel through the creatures' interdimensional portal. Stay safe. You have the future of humanity (if not all life in this dimension) to think about.

Upside down in space, theres no such thing!

At Sci Fi conventions (I've only been to one, so this is an assumption) there is always some kind of nerd asking really complicated questions of the actors and writers. They usually involve some aspect of the show (for example) that is (possibly) impossible.

In Stargate SG-1, there was a group of people who had a device which allowed them to move through solid matter. They used this technology in several episodes to walk through walls. This technology has also been used in other Sci Fi mediums. However, while i was watching the "making of", they addressed the issue surrounding this device. If a device can make a person pass through solid matter, then logically as soon as they activate the device, they would more than likely fall through the floor (and even the ground). To prevent the device from becoming criticised, the writers simply created a line noting a feature of the invention that prevented a person from traveling vertically. (Although i can see some problems with this as we do move up and down when we walk, but I'm not too worried about that).

I have recently thought of a problem with most movies involving space. For the purpose of conformity, i shall use a Stargate SG-1 example. When two spaceships come out of hyperspace (from different directions), none of them appear upside down (Ie they are all the same way up). Now this would be understandable if there is some kind of gravitational force, as the uniform thing to do is have the bottom of the ship facing the source of the gravitational pull. However this often occurs in outerspace without the presence of a planet creating an gravitational pull.

I do admit that it would look funny if two ships were fighting each other, and one appeared upside down. But it would be nice to at least see it happen once!! After all there is no such thing as "upside down" if there is no gravitational pull.

Killing Your Clone

I think it's definitely murder as you're killing another living thing. You aren't killing yourself as who you are is made up of both your biology and your environment. So by that I mean while you share the same DNA you do not share the same experiences. It is not you.

However a scenario where you create the clone with the specific mission of killing you is a more complicated scenario. It's kinda like suicide by proxy...

Amazing Animals

In the news today I saw an story about a dog who uses his nails and teeth to create "works of art". Basically the owner covers a canvas with carbon paper, so every mark the dog makes will show up on the canvas after the carbon paper is removed. The owner has been selling some of these "paintings" for around $1,500 - $2,000. Unfortunately I couldn't find a link to this story (as I saw it on TV) but I did find another interesting story regarding pets.

There's been a cat that catches a bus several times a week to a fish n' chip shop. Apparently the cat gets on and off at the same stop every time, and quietly sits at the front of the bus between his stops. If you want to read the original story, then have a look at the link below.

Pharmaceutical Companies, Are They Evil?

I'm currently writing an essay for my Geographies Of Development UNI course. My essay argues that Pharmaceutical companies are abusing third world countries (like Africa) in their quest for profit.

Basically, the people in third world countries lack the financial advantage (that we have) to get access to much needed medication. Because of this lack of funds (and need for medication) they are more willing to become participants in research experiments on particular drugs. The people are not fully aware of the side effects of these drugs, and therefore give uninformed consent. I also found some research that gives evidence supporting the idea that trials financially backed by Pharmaceutical companies are more likely to have positive results for the new drugs.

There have been cases where people have died (or became seriously sick) because of these drug trials. But because they are conducted in third world countries, the pharmaceutical companies are less likely to be sued. I could write more about how pharmaceutical companies are bad but I wont, as I'm probably only going to mention the above points and base my argument around them.

Driving Lesson

I went for my very first driving lesson today. I need to get my licence before the end of this year as it will expire in december. The guy told me that if i went for my licence now that i would probably get it. The driver was really nice... I had a 50% off voucher, and the lessons are usually 1hour. So i paid for the hour ($27.50) and basically that was the official end of the lesson. But his next "client" was in adamstown sooo he let me drive from Maitland all the way into University. Soo all up i ended up paying for 30minutes of a lesson (cause it was half price) and drove for about 1hour 30minutes.

Anyway i'm at uni atm and am getting hungry (as usual). I've got Psychology at 12 soo i should be going.

Have I Really Gone Crazy??

Those of you who know me, know that i am random and can be a bit crazy at times. But lately i think my "crazy-ness" has taken a step into the wrong direction.

My mum and sister have been in Melbourne since Wednesday morning and wont be back untill sunday. Which has allowed me to study for my upcoming exams (next week). However this also means that i have not seen another human being since Tuesday (or Wednesday) and i haven't actually spoken to a human being (in person) since that same day. Thats NO CONTACT with the outside world except for a telephone call from a friend and a couple of quick msn conversations. I have also NOT BEEN OUTSIDE since wednesday. And i think its getting to me...

So far i have...

1. Heard footsteps up stairs while i have been studying.
2. Had my front door mysteriously opened (or did i open it? I dont know)
3. Heard a door open/close upstairs 2 or 3 times.
4. Seen a weird black movement on the ceiling while trying to sleep.
5. While trying to sleep I also felt that weird feeling (on the back of ur neck, like on 6th sense).
6. I have also started to talk to myself. I was deciding on what to make myself for dinner and i suddenly realised that i was actually having a debate outloud with myself.

I probably also should add that the most exciting thing i have done since tuesday (when i went to the movies and had lunch in Newcastle) was observe a wasp on a light in the lounge room while watching NCIS. The wasp appeared to be pulling out it's stingy bit (like it was getting ready for a battle with me) it also appeared to be intelligent as everytime i left the room it would come out of it's hiding spot and look around. So i tried to reason with it by leaving the front door open and telling it to leave, but it refused to go. So... During the Ad break i decided to kill it before it stung me. So i chased it around the loungeroom with last weeks Newcastle Herald. After successfully killing the wasp i threw it in the bin

So if i stop coming on msn, or if i don't show myself in public you'll know that i have either...

1. Driven myself crazy and killed myself
2. Hadn't been imagining anything, and that thing upstairs has either captured me or eaten and killed me (hopefully not in that order).

Well anyway...

As some of you may be aware, I had originally used this msnspace to construct my master plans of World Domination (In fact if you want to view these go to my first few entries on this blog). To help me and my "partner's in crime" achieve World Domination it was decided to create 3 breeds of soldiers, one of them was "mutated sponge monkeys". Unfortunately it seems that someone (that being Soviet Dictator Joseph Stalin) had already thought of this... (maybe not the "sponge" bit).

The Sheep Market

A Person showed me this website called the sheep market (www.thesheepmarket.com). It's really funny... kinda. Well it's worth writing about anywaysssssssssssssss...

So basically...

"The sheep market is a collection of 10,000 sheep created by workers on Amazon's Mechanical Turk. Each worker was paid $.02(US) to draw a sheep facing left."

This website lets you access the drawings of the sheep. It's really funny as some of them don't even look like sheep, some have scenery and houses, some have strange body parts, some go "Baaa" and others arent even facing left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

The actuall picture is drawn right in front of your eyes so you can see the time it took the workers to draw AND the way they drew it (which in some cases is funny in itself).

The sins of MY religion

Let's assume i wanted to make my own religion. What sins should i have???

I want it to be realistic so i have created the following so far...

Thou shall not:

1. Murder
2. Rape
3. Commit treason
4. Steal

I have also added a little line in my "rules" saying that any words from my mouth become instant law. (kind of like the Ancient Persian Kings). So if i say all people must kick 2 irish men on sunday's then they have to do it and not doing it becomes a sin and hence they get punished.

I want to add some punishments for the sins.

One is if a male rape's. He is to be unknowingly knocked out. And be operated on so that when he wakes up in the morning he has an empty space where his dick should be. I mean seriously how scary would that be. And if it is a really bad raper he wont be unconscious during the operation and maybe be killed or something like that (eventually).

SOOOO i need your help to make a list of sins and punishments. I need as many suggestions as possible!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????!!!!???!!?

Clones, minime's and time machines

It's times like now that i wish i had a clone. Seriously i have a 2000 word essay due on thursday!!! how good would it be if i had a clone and got him to do my essay for me while i relax.

But knowing me, and knowing the clone is me; I (the clone) would probably turn around and kill me (the real me) so I/he could impersonate me.

Maybe i could just have a minime. Like a dwarf sized me who wasn't smart enough to think of killing me, but smart enough to do chores. I could send him up the shops and make him do the house work. But then i suppose minime wouldn't be very smart and would probably do something illegal eventually. I can just imagine it...

"Luke" Says Luke, "Go to the shops and get some money out of the ATM".

He will probably rob the bank or atleast trash the ATM trying to get money out of it!!! And knowing my luck i will be the one going to gaol while my minime gets to be free.

Well if worse comes to worse i could always get some kind of device that controls time. I could freeze time and do my essay, rob the bank AND relax on the beach all at the same moment in time. But then the beach wouldn't be very fun as time would be frozen. Hence everything would be still. So therefore if i tried to go surfing or something... well i just wouldn't be able to. As the waves would be stopped where they were. Imagine if there was a tsunami i'd be able to walk up to the wall of water!!! AMAZING!!!!!!

But knowing me, i'd probably drop the time control device breaking it into pieces and either be stuck in a frozen time/reality OR be swept away and killed by the giant wave.

Maybe i should just do my 2000 word essay...

Any other ideas on how i could do my essay without actualling doing it. (if u know what i mean). Or maybe you have an idea on how to get my essay done in the really short time i have to do it.

If you were to have a time control device what would be its form? I was originally going to say an tv remote control. But then i got thinking and now i reckon a ring would be better. As they are very durable and will be on me at ALL TIMES. But then where would the buttons go? or would it be voice activated?

The Duck From The Opening ceremony

Some of the people i hang around at, at Uni are from other countries. (mainly Laos and Britain). While talking to my British friend he was astounded to find out that we call his "football "soccer". I have also noticed that some terms we may use in general conversation he has never heard of, or doesnt even know what they mean. This also applies to me aswell. ie i never knew that British people said Bleeding or Blooming and other stuff...
He also told me that he was surprised at how our accent isn't what he expected. And that most ppl here don't have the "Australian accent" ( believe this is true aswell).

So i of course thought i'd go research what Australians say, and was surprised to see that we actually use different terms that mean the same thing in different states.

In South Australia (SA) this product is known as fritz, for most people in Victoria (Vic) it is stras, in most of New South Wales (NSW) it is devon, in Western Australia (WA) polony, in Queensland (Qld) windsor ("devon" is also used), in Tasmania (Tas) belgium, and so on. Relationship to other varieties of English

Australian English began to diverge from British English soon after the foundation of the colony of New South Wales (NSW) in 1788. The settlement was intended originally as a penal colony for British convicts. They were mostly people from large English cities, such as Cockneys. In 1827, Peter Cunningham, in his book Two Years in New South Wales, reported that native-born white Australians spoke with a distinctive accent and vocabulary, albeit with a strong Cockney influence. (The transportation of convicts to Australian colonies continued until 1868.) A much larger wave of immigration, as a result of the first Australian gold rushes, in the 1850s, also had a significant influence on Australian English, including large numbers of people who spoke English as a second language. Since that time, Australian English has borrowed increasingly from external sources.

The so-called "Americanisation" of Australian English — signified by the borrowing of words, terms and usages from American English — which began during the goldrushes, was accelerated by a massive influx of US military personnel during World War II. The large-scale importation of television programs and other mass media content from the United States, from the 1950s onwards, has also had a significant effect. As a result, for example, Australians use the word truck instead of the British lorry.

Due to their shared history and geographical proximity, Australian English is most similar to New Zealand English. However, the difference between the two spoken versions is obvious to people from either country, if not to a casual observer from a third country. The vocabulary used also exhibits some striking differences.

Spelling

The exposure to the different spellings of British and American English leads to a certain amount of spelling variation such as organise/organize. British spelling is generally preferred, although some words are usually written in the American form, such as program and jail rather than programme and gaol (although commonly one could be 'jailed' in a 'gaol'). Publishers, schools, universities and governments typically use the Macquarie Dictionary as a standard spelling reference. Both -ise and -ize are accepted, as in British English, but '-ise' is the preferred form in Australian English by a ratio of about 3:1 according to the Australian Corpus of English.

There is a widely-held belief in Australia that American spellings are a modern "intrusion", but the debate in fact goes back to the 19th century. A pamphlet titled The So Called "American Spelling.", printed in Sydney over 100 years ago, argued that "there is no valid etymological reason for the preservation of the u in such words as honor, labor, etc." At the time it was noted that "the tendency of people in Australasia is to excise the u, and one of the Sydney morning papers habitually does this, while the other generally follows the older form". Some Melbourne newspapers once excised the "u", but do not anymore, and the Australian Labor Party officially adopted the '-or' ending in 1912.

Irish influences

There is some influence from Hiberno-English, but perhaps not as much as might be expected given that many Australians are of Irish descent. Perhaps most noticeable is the widespread – but not universal – pronunciation of the name of the letter "H" as "haitch" /hæɪtʃ/, rather than the unaspirated "aitch" /æɪtʃ/ found in New Zealand, as well as most of Britain and North America. This is most often found amongst speakers of Broad Australian English and is thought to be the influence of Irish Catholic priests and nuns. Others include the non-standard plural of "you" as "youse" /jʉːz/, which is common in some social circles, and the expression "good on you" or "good onya", although the former is common throughout North America and the latter is also encountered in New Zealand English and British English. Another usage indicative of an Irish influence is use of the word 'me' replacing 'my'. Example: Where's me hat?

Non-Australians can also gain an impression of Australian English from well-known actors and other native speakers. The normal speaking voices of Cate Blanchett, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman and Heath Ledger are examples of General Australian accents, unless they are acting in roles as non-Australians. Several Australian actors provided voices for Finding Nemo: Nigel the pelican, the three sharks, and the dentist have Australian accents. Television star Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin has a Broad Australian accent (see below) and as a result his voice is often parodied inside Australia as well as out. John O'Grady's novel They're a Weird Mob has many good examples of pseudo-phonetically written Australian speech during the 1950s, such as "owyergoinmateorright?" ("how're you going mate, alright?") and Thomas Keneally's novels, particularly The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, of putatively 19th century Australianisms such as "yair" for "yes" and "nothink" for "nothing."

The origins of Australian words

Australian English incorporates many terms that Australians consider to be unique to their country. One of the best-known of these is outback which means remote, sparsely-populated areas. The similar bush can mean either native forests, or country areas in general. Both terms are historically widely used in many English speaking countries, however. Many such words, phrases or usages originated with the British convicts transported to Australia. Many words used frequently by country Australians are, or were, also used in all or part of England, with variations in meaning. For example: a creek in Australia, as in North America, is any stream or small river, whereas in England it is a small watercourse flowing into the sea; paddock is the Australian word for a field, while in England it is a small enclosure for livestock and; wooded areas in Australia are known as bush or scrub, as in North America, while in England, they are commonly used only in proper names (such as Shepherd's Bush and Wormwood Scrubs). Cockney and Australian English also both use the word mate to mean a close friend of the same gender (rather than the conventional meaning of "a spouse"), although this usage has also become common in some other varieties of English.

The origins of other terms are not as clear, or are disputed. Dinkum (or "fair dinkum") means "true", or when used in speech: "is that true?", "this is the truth!", and other meanings, depending on context and inflection. It is often claimed that dinkum dates back to the Australian goldrushes of the 1850s, and that it is derived from the Cantonese (or Hokkien) ding kam, meaning "top gold". However, scholars give greater credence to the notion that it originated with a now-extinct dialect word from the East Midlands in England, where dinkum (or dincum) meant "hard work" or "fair work", which was also the original meaning in Australian English.[1] The derivation dinky-di means a native-born Australian.

Similarly, g'day, a stereotypical Australian greeting, is no longer synonymous with "good day" in other varieties of English and is never used as an expression for "farewell", as "good day" is in other countries.

Some elements of Aboriginal languages have been incorporated into Australian English, mainly as names for places, flora and fauna (for example dingo, kangaroo). Beyond that, some terms have been adopted into the wider language, except for some localised terms, or slang. Some examples are cooee, yarn and Hard yakka. The former is a high-pitched call (pronounced /kʉː.iː/) which travels long distances and is used to attract attention. Cooee has also become a notional distance: if he's within cooee, we'll spot him. Yarn means to chat or tell a story. This has further evolved into spin a yarn for telling a long and engaging tale. Hard yakka means hard work and is derived from yakka, from the Yagara/Jagara language once spoken in the Brisbane region. Also from the Brisbane region comes the word bung meaning broken. A failed piece of equipment might be described as having gone bung.

Though often thought of as an Aboriginal word, didgeridoo (a well known wooden musical instrument) is probably an onomatopaoeic word of Western invention. It has also been suggested that it may have an Irish derivation.[2]

Varieties of Australian English

Most linguists consider that there are three main varieties of Australian English: "Broad", "General" and "Cultivated". These three main varieties are actually part of a continuum and are based on variations in accent. They often, but not always, reflect the social class and/or educational background of the speaker.

Broad Australian English

Broad Australian English is the archetypal and most recognisable variety and is familiar to English speakers around the world, because of its use in identifying Australian characters in non-Australian films and television programs. In reality it is less common than General Australian English. Broad Australian English is recognisable by a certain nasal drawl and the prevalence of long diphthongs. Broad Australian English is more likely to be encountered when travelling farther away from the capital cities.

General Australian English

General Australian English is the stereotypical variety of Australian English. It is the variety of English used by the majority of Australians and it dominates the accents found in contemporary Australian-made films and television programs, such as Neighbours. This variety has noticeably shorter vowel sounds than Broad Australian English, among other differences. There is perhaps a trend towards General Australian away from the extremes.

Cultivated Australian English

Cultivated Australian English (CAE) has many similarities to British Received Pronunciation, and is often mistaken for it. CAE is now spoken by less than 10% of the population. An overwhelmingly large and growing majority of Australians now have either General or Broad accents. One effect of this is that the speech of people like Alexander Downer, the Minister for Foreign Affairs is mocked as sounding "affected", "snobby" or "aloof", when his accent is simply an example of CAE, reinforced by the fact that he completed his secondary schooling at a public school in England and went to university there. CAE was once common among public figures in Australia.

Regional variation

It is sometimes claimed that regional variations in pronunciation and accent exist, but if present at all they are very small compared to those of British and American English – sufficiently so that linguists are divided on the question. Overall, pronunciation is determined less by region than by social and educational influences.

Regional vocabulary

There is, however, some variation in Australian English vocabulary between different regions. An example often cited by linguists is the variety of names given by Australians to bland, processed pork products – known in other countries as pork luncheon meat or baloney – is so great, that these words are used by linguists to ascertain not only which Australian state or territory a person is from, but also regional origin within states in some cases. For example, in South Australia (SA) this product is known as fritz, for most people in Victoria (Vic) it is stras, in most of New South Wales (NSW) it is devon, in Western Australia (WA) polony, in Queensland (Qld) windsor ("devon" is also used), in Tasmania (Tas) belgium, and so on. Regional variation does not respect state borders, and this is shown, for example, by the fact that both Queenslanders and people from northern New South Wales say port (short for portmanteau) while people in the other states say case, school bag, backpack and/or knapsack. In the past variation was so strong that the residents of the NSW town of Maitland would use the word port where Newcastle, some 20 kilometres away, would prefer the latter term.

There is also great variety in the names of beer glasses from one area to another. For example, a standard 285ml (10 fl.oz.) glass, in different states or regions, is known as a middy (NSW/WA/ACT), pot (Vic/Qld/Tas), handle (NT/SA), ten (SA/Tas) or schooner (SA). Such variation causes great confusion, especially since a schooner is a 425 ml (15 fl.oz.) glass in every state that uses the word except SA. (See Australian words for beer glasses for a full list.)

Although swimwear is known as bathers in most areas, people in NSW and Queensland do not conform, preferring terms such as swimmers, cossie or togs (see Australian words for swimwear).

Another example is the word tuckshop which is used in Queensland and northern NSW to describe a food outlet on school premises; the word canteen is now more common in other areas of Australia, although tuckshop may occasionally be used in those areas as well.

A farmer's wife once required a vehicle that could be used as a farm hack (farm car) through (during, in) the week, and used for church over(at[UK], on[US]) the weekend, which resulted in the "ute" (pick-up truck). Words such as "biro"(ball-point pen), named after its designer, can be heard in the United Kingdom and France.

There are many regional variations for describing social classes or subcultures. The best example is probably bogan (fairly universal), which is also referred to as bevan in Queensland and booner in the ACT.

The differences are not restricted to words. For example, it is often said that people from some parts of Queensland end sentences with the interrogative "eh?" (or "hay?", "hey", and so on), although this is also common in both New Zealand English and Canadian English.

The steadily increasing centralisation of film, TV and radio production, however, may be spreading new words more rapidly and blurring such distinctions.

Sport variations

Many regional variations are as a result of the Australian passion for sport and the differences in non-linguistic traditions from one state to another: the word football refers to the most popular code of football in different States or regions, or even ethnic groups within them. Victorians start a game of Australian rules football with a ball up, Western Australians with a bounce down; New South Welsh people and Queenslanders start a game of Rugby League or Rugby Union with a kick off, as do soccer fans across Australia.

In the early 21st century the national governing body for soccer attempted to foster use of "football" to mean soccer, in accordance with general international usage and several media outlets have adopted this use. It is yet to be seen whether this will spead into the mainstream, however, use of the word "football", to mean either Australian rules or one of the rugby football codes, is well-established in Australia.

The Australian slang word footy has been traditionally associated with the native code of Australian rules football or Rugby League. The word has also been adopted to a lesser degree by rugby union followers, following directly from the association of the word to describe the most popular football code. Examples in popular culture includes the The Footy Show. More recently it has been adopted in other countries in reference to other codes, such as the UK (soccer) and New Zealand (rugby union).

For many Australian rules followers, the verb barrack (or the accompanying noun form barracker), is used to describe following a team or club. (In New South Wales and Queensland the term support or supporter is generally used instead.) Barrack has its origins in British English, although in the UK it now usually means to jeer or denigrate an opposing team or players. The expression "root (or rooting) for a team", as used in the United States, is not generally used in Australia as root (or rooting) is slang for sexual intercourse.

Australian English is a non-rhotic variety. It is unique in its remarkable homogeneity over a vast area. Unlike most varieties of English, it has a phonemic length distinction. It has a reasonably standard consonant inventory.

Myths about Australian accents

Australian English is sometimes described as high-pitched, nasal, lazy or drawling. The claims of high pitch and nasality are not entirely true, as many Australian English speakers perceive much of American English to be nasal, while laziness and drawling are impossible to test objectively.

Similarly, stereotypes of Australian speech as having a "rising tone" or "questioning intonation", known in linguistics as high rising terminal, are not entirely justified by the empirical evidence. Many Australians' speech patterns do not conform to this stereotype, and the "questioning intonation" can be found in many regional speech patterns, such as those in the south of England, Northern Ireland, and even North America.

Use of words by Australians

Perception has it that a common trait is the frequent use of long-winded similes, such as "slow as a wet week", "built like a brick shit-house", "mad as a cut snake", "up and down like a bride's nightie", "dry as a dead dingo's donger", "off like prawns in the sun", "sweating like a pig on fire", or "flat out like a lizard drinking". Moreover, several such expressions are common in many parts of the English-speaking world and are only perceived as uniquely Australian by Australians.

Many Australians believe themselves to be direct in manner, and this is typified by statements such as "why call a spade a spade, when you can call it a bloody shovel". Such sentiments can lead to misunderstandings and offence being caused to people from cultures where an emphasis is placed on avoiding conflict, such as people from East Asia.

Spoken Australian English is generally more tolerant of offensive and/or abusive language than other variants. A famous exponent was the former Prime Minister Paul Keating, who referred in Parliament to various political opponents as a "mangy maggot", a "stupid foul-mouthed grub", and so on. He drew ire from then Malaysian leader Mahathir Mohammed for calling him a "recalcitrant". This tradition was continued by fellow Labor MP Mark Latham who, in 2002, unapologetically described a visit by Prime Minister John Howard to George W. Bush as "an arse-licking effort". The widespread desire among Australians to avoid pomposity, leading to a rejection of even formal or dignified speech, is sometimes seen as reflecting a suspicion of success in general, a phenomenon sometimes known as the tall poppy syndrome, another term widely used in the English speaking world but perceived by many Australians to be a local coinage.

Humour

An important aspect of Australian English usage, inherited in small part from Britain and Ireland, is the use of deadpan humour, in which a person will make extravagant, outrageous and/or ridiculous statements in a neutral tone, and without explicitly indicating they are joking. Tourists seen to be gullible and/or lacking a sense of humour may be subjected to tales of kangaroos hopping across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and similar tall tales. (See also Drop Bear.)

Diminutives

Australian English makes far more frequent use of diminutives than other varieties of English. These which can be formed in a number of ways such as adding -o or -ie to the ends of abbreviated words. They can be used to indicate familiarity, although in many speech communities the diminutive form is more common than the original word or phrase.

Examples with the -o ending include abo (aborigine, now considered offensive), arvo (afternoon), doco (documentary), servo (service station, known in other countries as a "petrol station" or "gas station"), bottle-o (bottle-shop or liquor store), rego (still pronounced with a /ʤ/) (annual motor vehicle registration), compo (compensation), leso or lesbo (lesbian, also offensive, pronounced with a /z/), ambo (ambulance officer). The Salvation Army is often referred to as "The Salvos". The city of Fremantle is known by many of its inhabitants as Freo. Filipino youth in Australia refer to themselves as being a Filo, a word not used by Filipino Americans.

Examples of the -ie ending include barbie (barbecue), bikkie (biscuit), bikie (member of a motorcycle club), brekkie (breakfast), blowie (blowfly), brickie (brick layer), mozzie (mosquito), and pollie (politician). The city of Brisbane is often called Brissie (pronounced with a /z/).

Occasionally, a -za diminutive is used, usually for personal names where the first of multiple syllables ends in an "r". Karen becomes Kazza and Jeremy becomes Jezza. Also popular and common is the -z diminutive form (also found in British English) whereby Karen becomes Kaz and so on.

Other diminutive forms include:

last one or two syllables, prefaced with a definite article: for example, The Gabba for the Brisbane Cricket Ground at Woolloongabba; The Gong for Wollongong.
first syllable plus "-s": turps turpentine (usually referring to drinking alcohol, e.g. "a night on the turps") or Ian Turpie; Gabs, pet form of Gabrielle.
first syllable plus "-ers": Honkers (Hong Kong).

Rarely Used Phrases

Because of the caricaturised over-use, or "Hollywoodisation", of some phrases attributed to Australians, some of these have dropped out of common conversation (at least in most urban areas). Words being used less often are strewth and crikey, and archetypal phrases like Flat out like a lizard drinking are rarely heard without a sense of irony.

Other terms were never used in the first place. The much-quoted line "Throw another shrimp on the barbie" was a phrase that has never been used by Australians, but was a concoction of the Australian Tourist Commission for a US advertisement for tourism to Australia. "Shrimp" is an international English term — they are called prawns in Australia.

I Don't get much free time anymore because of Uni, thats why i havent been commenting on people's spaces and adding entries on here. I'm also thinking of deleting this space and starting a new one. What do you think? But then if i do delete this space i'll loose all my favourite entries and comments. I don't know what to do.

But If you read the first 2 entries i made on here, you will notice i didn't want this space to have things on it to do with my life, i wanted it to have crazy stupid things on it. Maybe i should have two blogs, one for crazy stuff and one for normall stuff. I'm not sure what i should to do.

A death in my family...

It was a sad sad day in my life the other day.

My Sim died unexpectantly, I was in the shower and i heard a strange noise when i looked around towards my mobile and those terrible words were on it...

I tried everything to revive it, but it wouldn't come back to life

So i am now using a new mobile number but luckly all my contacts were saved on my mobile memory aswell, so those of you who have my number will have to ask me for my new one. One good thing did come to me because of this, now i have $10 worth of credit instead of the 22cents ive had for the last few weeks.

I haven’t been on here for the last two weeks cause I have been busy, and last week I was on Schoolies at Surfers Paradise. We met a few people up there, and went to “the worlds” (Dream World, Movie World) but we didn’t go to sea world though. We went to Wet And Wild instead. (lol wet and wild).

Anyway, I’m totally poor (I spent all my money) and I need as much money as possible for Christmas presents, a friend’s 18^th and Thailand. I got my passport when I got home on Saturday its heap weird.

On this Wednesday I’m going to “Hunter Valley Private Hospital to get my four wisdom teeth taken out. Luckily they will be giving me drugs so I become unconscious. But if I’m on antibiotics I wont be able to drink at my friend’s 18^th party, cause I don’t want to get an epileptic fit.

Well hey I’ve had a busy week myself. I just got my school jersey as well as my school year 12 photo (called a circuit photo for some unknown reason), and other stuff. I have to wait until December for my actual year book, but its probably going to be worth the wait anyway. I had my formal on Saturday night as well. It was great. I had a few people over at my house afterwards. My friends actually pointed out to me that I’ve had either a party or gathering at my house EVERY weekend for the last few weeks. I might try and keep up the tradition. But not this weekend seeing as my friends having their 18^th on the Friday night,

I came on here for a particular reason, I’m hoping to tell you about a dream I had the other day.

Well first it’s one of those ones when I can only remember tiny minute bits, but oh well I’ll get over it.

Anyway… I came home and a friend of the family (Ann is her name) had for some unknown reason decided to make a surprise party for me in my own backyard. There were about only 30 people there, some friends from school but a lot of them I didn’t really know. But I recognised one of them as being a person I talk to on msn (it was Tanae). So I soon figured out that most of the people were from msn and they also didn’t recognise me (cause I currently don’t have a photo of me on the net). So I walked up to Tanae and introduced myself. I was like “hi I’m Luke” and she was like “ Luke who?” Than she just stared at me in shock, having finally put a face to my name. So eventually Tanae, Michelle, and all these other people I know only on msn (i.e. never seen before in my life) were just talking normally. And that’s all I remember. Except one bit, for some reason Tanae had gotten into my room and stolen my Jim Beam and Bundaberg Rum bottles and were drinking them. You thief!!!!! Lol.

So that is all I can remember. The night before that dream I had one of me eating fairy bread. Strange, I must have been hungry or something, cause I seriously haven’t eaten fairy bread in years. which is a good thing cause i'm an 18yr old guy!!!

My friend turns 18 on friday. So on thursday at 12am (friday morning) we are going out to the Brewery and Club House. Can't wait, it should be fun. Her party is on friday night, but i have to work on saturday, so therefore i can't get too drunk. so i'm planning on doing all the drinking on thursday, and not as much on friday night.

first of all, i'd like to point out the BLATENTLY OBVIOUS fact that, the story below was not based on true events. One particular person (who shall stay unnamed), thought that i was trying to say that it happened (in real life). Well Rundle, (ahh oops i didn't say that), it was a story that i made a few years ago, cause i had to write a story for my english teacher. The same one i wrote about earlier that threw cra around the room and had porn on her laptop. And i know what your thinking, she probably didn't like it, well from what i can recall, she never saw it. Cause she probably wouldn't like it.

Limbo:

Anyway, i've finished school for good. I'm currently in a state that i like to call "limbo". My life has stopped while i'm waiting for my results. they get released at 6 in the morning so my friends and i are thinking of going to the Brewery and then stumbling to someones home and checking the results out.

18th Party:

I had my party on last friday. i had fun. lots of ppl threw up. I can't remember all of it (bit drunk lol). Actually i cant remember even getting changed. I woke up in a different set of clothes then what i started out in. apparently i sat on a girl with spew on her so i got it on me. But it was great!!!!!!!

Friends & Money:

I've also been going out with friends nearly every day. LIke movies and the beach and shopping. But all of those mean me spending my money. WHICH IS BAD!!! I need to save it for schoolies (at surfers of course) and when i go to Thailand early next year... and get the bird flu.

Teeth:

I have to get my wisdom teeth out aswell. The pain!!! the humanity!!! (i think thats what they say). But i will be drugged and put into a sleep thingy-me-jig. Which is always fun, its the best sleep anyone could ever i have (well thats what i reckon).

I went up to the meanest, strongest and dumbest person in school I punched him in the nose he said “Oh I am very terribly sorry was my head in the road I shall punish it. Hmmm I know, I shall cut it off with my chainsaw immediately”. At that very moment he pulled a mini chainsaw out of his pocket and cut his head off then walked away.

Well i've been going out to friends houses for "get together's" nearly everyday.And i've had fun, but truthfully i can't be bothered writing in here at the moment about what happened over the last couple of days. Today (and yesterday) i've decided to get rid of all my school notes (i'm burning them with other ppl's at my party). So i've been cleaning my room out, and i finished yesterday. BUT after cleaning it i decided to throw a lot of my crap out. i.e. things that should have been thrown out years ago. Well my room is even messy-er than when i started. But it should be finished by friday. Anyway, i'm going to go. And i promise that i'll put a story on here next time.

I'm 18 today!!!!!

I’m officially 18!!!! But I don’t really feel different, (apart from the pain in my stomach and a slight head ache from my first legal drinking session [AKA piss up]). The only differences that I can think of are the fact that I have new places to explore and new things I can buy.

My B’day is on the 30^th of October. So yesterday my brother, his friend and my sister went to the Brewery (just the crap Maitland one, but still… there were a few hundred people there), and I was allowed entry, as it was 12:02, it was great; the guy just looked at my drivers licence and then at his watch and then let me in. At first it wasn’t very fun, I have to admit. This was mainly because I really need to be there with my own friends (there not 18 yet…). But after I had alcohol rushing around my system, (killing all the brain cells I need for my 2 HSC exams on Tuesday), I had fun. I think I was dancing until nearly 2, than we all left The Brewery and went to The Club House; I was there until 4ish (close to 5) and was dancing (and drinking) the whole time.

Oh yeah, I played the pokies at The Brewery, (aka poker machines [even though u don’t play poker on them]). I’m not stupid enough to waste my own money on those things; my sister gave me $5 and showed me how to use them. I lost all of it (naturally) that’s why there called “one armed bandits” (even though they have become digital and the thing you pull has been replaced by buttons). Well anyway, I got lots of money for my B’day and other stuff (but u don’t want me to go into the details, if you did want me to just ask me on msn).

By the way, if your coming to my party and you were planning on giving me money, please still do it cause I need as much as possible for Schoolies and Thailand. LOL, that’s a funny story that. Originally I was going to Bali, but after the recent attacks my mum reckons she’d feel too irresponsible to take me there. So we decided on Thailand, but now there’s this bird flu and they reckon it could have the potential to kill tons of people. So I don’t know if I should go. What would you prefer to go up against? Terrorist or Bird Flu? I’d prefer to go up against terrorists, cause you can actually see them (unlike some micro-organism/virus/thing). But that’s just me. I don’t want to give in to them, they suck and I don’t want my life to be governed by fear (of them). But if I suddenly stop coming on msn, or stop writing on here, I’ve probably either got the bird flu and stuck in quarantine, or dead OR been blown up by terrorists.

Are many of you aware of the world around you? I try to stay informed on “activities” overseas and in Australia. I actually watch the news, I watch NBN (aka nine/win/three) and it’s okay but I recently got hooked on SBS news, and it gives you a really in depth view of… stuff. I find things out on that channel that I wouldn’t have even known about just by watching NBN news.

Anyway… What do you all think of these new terror laws? Especially the one about shoot to kill? We all saw what happened in Britain. Some poor guy (who wasn’t a terrorist) was sitting on a seat and got shot dead (it was caught on film). I’m totally against it. Unless of course it is blatantly obvious that the guy is going to hurt innocent people. Please tell me what you think.

I am proud to say that I have enrolled to vote, and you don’t have to worry. I WILL do my part in getting rid of John Howard. Oh if only I had my way. I’d make Australia a better place, and if some minority/idiot doesn’t agree with me than I’d just force them into it. But if you think about it, that is kind of a Dictatorship. And if Australia is ruled by a dictator, than I’ll bet you everything I own that George Bush will invade us. That’s what he does, e.g. Iraq. COUNTRY + DICTATOR = AMERICAN INVASION!!!!!!. I’ve discussed this with some American “msn contacts” and they also agree that their government would probably attempt to invade. But seriously I reckon that most of us Aussies will fight to the bitter end. I know I would, even though the “end” would come very quickly for me. But I would fight for my country, freedom and all that other stuff. Would you?

I’m currently writing this in Word. Basically so I don’t waste time on the net and so that I can fix up spelling mistakes. And this entry is onto my 2^nd page (I’m only using size 12 font!!!), so I think I might stop. Hey, it’s strange how I started talking about my 18^th B’day, and got on to politics, pandemics, invasions and stuff. But anyway I’m going to go, make sure you wish me good luck in my exams and a happy birthday OR ELSE!!!!!!!!!! (lol).

Religion

Well i did myStudies of Religion exam on friday. I thought i was going to fail. But i went really good, it was the easiest exam i have ever done.

I had to know stuff to do with what sort of immirants came to Australia after the World wars. Thats why i was screwed. Mainly cause i kept forgeting that Buddhists came from indo china and Jews came from.. (i forget). Ohh yeah they one of the places they came from was Germany ( i remember that one because they both begin with a similar sounding letter). But it was basically all the geograohy type stuff. For example i sort of thought that the Japanese invaded Tebet (or is it Tibet, doesn't really matter anyway). But my Religion teacher (who is part Japanes coincidently) reminded me that it was the chinese. OOPS. I'm just glad i didnt do Geography. But i didn't even need to know that stuff cause it wasn't on the exam.

Lately it been raining down here. Which is kind of good. Except its always raining when i want to study but its nice and sunny when i do the exam. . Ohh well, can't be helped. My Religion exam was in the afternoon, so when i got to school i basically went to the library and tried to study. But it didn't feel right, like the atmosphere or something (weird aren't i), and it's sort of not my scene. So i just went outside and sat with friends and read over notes. I didn't learn much except that i wasn't guna get through it all that way. Eventually my friends and i went to see my religion teacher (the one i talked about above) and convinced him to not teach his Ancient History tutorial but to teach us zreligion instead. I learnt a fair bit (i mainly learnt that i actually knew the information it was just buried inside my head), it helped to talk about it. Soo after that a friend and I just talked about the women we have to memorise (there an ongoing joke there that i can't be bothered writing about [i don't know why i'm mentioning it]). And the other topics and it really helped, so i know what i'll do for the next 4 exams (thats right 3 down 4 to go).

Anyway i went to my cousins party today, he's 11 (i think), i just got home and i thought i'd get my "hit" of the net, i swear i'm addicted to this thing. I'm going to go now cause theres nothing else to talk about.

Ohh yeah i found a book that i had in year 7 and 8 with all of my old stories i wrote for English in them (by the way my year 10 english teacher, who 1. had porn on her pc and 2. chucked a lot of tantrums, once killed a nun [i'm full of use less information, a friend's math book has the back part divoted to my useless facts]). ANYWAY i might post some on here, but you'll have to excuse the crappyness, cause hey i was in year 7 at the time.

Sad story

Well im home from doing my Advanced English Exam (paper 2). Yes i do Advanced and yes i no it was the dumbest decision of my liufe, See i cant even spell life right...

Well my teachers told us to prepare 2 poems and 3 readings thoroughly and we looked at the rest in class, but i just studied my favourite 2 poems and 3 readings, and guess what...

On the test today they asked us to write about 3 poems, IM NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!.

A sad thing happened to me the other day iIn my first examination. on the exams we can't write our names on them, we have to write a student number and a centre number (which tells them where i did the exam). This number has to be written up the top on every page. Anyway i accidently wrote my centre number where my student number was supposed to go and vise versa. I showed the lady, and she just patted me on the head and gave me one of those looks (thats just basically said "you poor boy"). I just cracked up laughing... So sad.

Anyway i go to a catholic school, which means i HAVE to do religion, so therefor i have to study for my religion test 2moro. Soo i should be going.

Well i don't really tell you ppl much about my life or what i do, but hey i can always start eventually. I'll give it a go.

Well i allready told you all about my exam so im not going to go on that subject (much).

Sooo, um, yeah...

All last week i went in to school for (optional) tutorials. I went in via bus in the morning (as usual). But most of the time i mainly just went to one tutorial (each one only took up one hour) which meant i had a whole 6 hours to fill in. I SHOULD have studied during that time, but i really just sat around talking to Chloe and Adam (all day). We would just sit there and go for walks. We actually found a park near our school with a sea-saw and swings. So basically were either talking at school or at this park on the swings (or sea-saw) talking. It was fun...

ANYWAY have you all noticed how the council workers need lots of breaks. Everytime we would go to the park there would be counsil workers bludging (like us), and having their break. Every time!!!. But seriously thats a LOT of breaks. Once when i was walking to the bus stop (to go to school) i walked past 7 counsil workers fixing up a road. But they werent doing much. 1 guy was in the machine driving over the freshly layed tar (or something), 1 guy was watching and talking to him, 1 guy was sitting in a ute listening to the radio, while another was leaning against that ute listening and talking to the guy in the ute, another 2 guys were sitting in the gutter eating McDonalds, and the 7th guy was standing back doing nothing just watching everyone else. Seriously out of 7ppl only 1 guy was working.

Has everyone heard that joke, which goes "how many men does it take to change a lightbulb", well i've got a new one for you, "how many women does it take to fill a soap despenser" and i can truthfully tell you at my sisters work today it took FOUR, i have no idea what they were doing but the answer is "four women".

I'd also just like to comment on a comment that Triddly-ism left for me, He wrote that we should kill the American government and all Americans who think there better than everyone else. Although i'd love to kill the American government, i dont want to kill all Americans who think there better than everyone else. I know a few Americans and they don't think there better than everyone else, (well actuall only one, but thats besides the point), she is a normal person. Anyway i dont think that they should be killed, i think they should be put into slave labour camps, with drug dealers with wipps and big machine guns that'll just mow them all down if they resist. But that shouldn't just apply to the Americans who think there better than everyone else, it should apply to ALL PEOPLE (Even Australian) who think there better than everyone else.

On a totally unrelated topic, It seems that Australia has been voted the "happiest nation" in the world. http://au.news.yahoo.com/051010/13/wa75.html And it seems that teenagers in Australia were the happiest. Although it must be said that only 30000 ppl were surveyed (world wide), so they must have missed all the ppl on anti depressents and the ppl who try to kill them selves whenever possible (sad it is but there still are ppl who try to). But then again there are like 2 or 3 hundren countries, so thed probably only surveyed like a hundren ppl from here unless they skipped all the 3rd world countries or something.

This is actually kind of fun telling u this kind of stuff. But im always careful what i say on here cause well, family might read it, so im not guna pour my heart out or anything (lol).

I should be going, im tired and i need to get up early to study for my english paper 2 on Friday.

Well, i give up, i don't know how to get ppl to comment so im just going to keep on talking about crap all and see what happens. Well anyway...

Today is Sunday, and tomorrow is Monday. Which means my English Part One (Area of study:Journey) exam is tomorrow. Which really sucks, cause its the 2nd hardest (the 1st being English Paper 2 (Modules). Anyway, iv'e had trouble studying cause its seriously boring, but for some reason today ive just did it non-stop (besides getting up at 11 and playing computer games) but i actually did a lot of study (for me anyway). Are you proud of me? I am.

Im just on here for a little while, having a break from studying.

Sooo anyway, Has anyone been confirmed? Its that thing in church when you eat and drink the bread and whine for the first time (i think). Well anyway my cousin is being confirmed the night before my 18th Party, and he's asked me to be his sponsor, Which i think is pretty cool (and a bit scary cause i don't exactly know what to do). i'm really hungry at the moment, but i just thought id tell you of this really freaky fream i had.

I went to school as usual and it was a normal day, and someone came up to me and said "asl" (as though this was normal) and im like "what", and there like astonished, then really sad, so she ran away from me, but not before saying "brb" (WHICH MEANS BE RIGHT BACK) anyway my friend had seen what happened and came up to me laughing but instead of saying "hahaha" he said "lol lol lol". Thats when the bell went but it wasnt a bell it was a nudge, (sort of like an earth quake, but i could tell the difference somehow). And thats when i woke up.

One day this could happen, languages change all the time. they are constantly developing. if i said "C-YA" to a person in australia when captain cook first came here they wouldn't have a clue what i was on about. So maybe one day aol (or whatever its called) will be common.

Anyway i should be going now.

Does anyone remember that comment i made titled "terrorism" and i just wrote how they suck and how we should just assassinate osama bin laden and kill the rest or something. Monster Dream

Most people who read my blog’s would probably think I’m crazy by now, but if you still don’t think I am the story below will certainly change your mind.

Have you ever had one of those dreams when your being chased and you can’t seem to get rid of the chaser (even if you can sometimes manage to fly short distances)? I often have those dreams except the one I had the other day was seriously 10 times worse. Imagine the whole world being taken over by monsters who have killed just about everyone in the world… and there after you!!!

I don’t remember all of it; most of it is really blurry but ill try to retell the dream how it occurred.

Well it all started in our shed, where I found 3 or 4 weird looking half dinosaur half slimy, stinky smooth monsters. They weren’t that big they were about the size of 2 bus seats. Anyway they were after my family and I. They saw us looking at them and decided to chase me around the outside of our house. After a while they re-grouped in the shed, between our cars. So we decided to kill them. We put explosives on the cars and in between them without them noticing (I don’t know where the explosives came from).

Once we were ready to blow them up, I had a final peek and pulled the leaver. The explosives went off. But the monsters managed to escape before the explosion. My family had disappeared, and I was now with two girls (I have no idea who they were). We ended up running around together through this (imaginary) town. The monsters were still following us, but this time they were in one of those school busses (the yellow ones you often see on those American TV shows). The bus would often just appear at the end of the street and chase us; we would always manage to escape just in time.

I don’t know how but the next thing I remember is that we had been caught by the monsters, and were huddled in the back of the bus, trying not to catch their attention. I also believe that we were in the back of that bus for a few weeks (maybe even months). The bus reeked of rotten flesh; there was slime all over the walls. The seats had been ripped out and were replaced by bones and flesh, just rotting on the floor. I believe that we survived on the scraps that the monsters didn’t eat, while hiding and still keeping the attention away from us.

But one day, we just escaped. It was just two of us now, I think the second girl had either died of starvation or had been killed by the monsters. The escape was actually pretty easy (I don’t know why we had not escaped earlier); we just slowly opened a window and slipped out, as the bus was moving along one of the streets. We had made it, the monsters just kept driving, they either didn’t notice or couldn’t be bothered coming back to get us. The exact spot where we fell out was right next to one of those drink machines.

The girl and I somehow got 6 or 7 bottles of water out of the machine (without breaking it or paying for them). We smelled that bad, all of the water was used to wash our clothes and body. It was really refreshing. After washing our selves I looked around. We were on the outskirts of the town.

It was daylight, and there was nobody around. Two fires were burning a few blocks away, and there were a couple of houses with holes presumably were the front doors used to be. The air, no longer smelling of rotten flesh (it had been washed off) now smelt like the sea. The girl seemed to know where we were going so I let her lead us down an road which had high cliffs on the left and a natural rocky harbour on the right.

After only walking about 10 meters we turned around a slight corner and right in front of us was a huge white building, with glass doors and sparkling windows. High barbed wire fences and soldiers surrounded it. The girl who I now realised to be an soldier as well lead us right through (past the check points) to the front doors where the person in charge of the facility was standing. To cut things short the girl got in trouble for not being at the base (and presumably court marshalled) and I was given a room to stay in.

I believe the girl was let off her charges as a few months later we were standing out the front of the building watching as a giant aircraft carrier from some country slowly and silently pulled in. we were all worried as we weren’t sure if it was controlled by the monsters or humans. Eventually we saw humans on board cheering and waving at us.

And that was when my mobile rang and woke me up. I’m going to assume that we used bombs on the ship to destroy the monsters, the people on that base were the only survivors on Earth and that we simply had to repopulate the world with humans and that’s it.

Anyway I’m sure everyone has given up in reading the story/dream that I had. But if there is anyone still reading please feel free to comment on it. Tell me what you think. Was it crap? Was it weird but interesting? Should I give you another one? Should I delete it off the site and never speak of it again? And you can even submit your own wacky dreams that you have had in the comment. Or even stories. If I like them that much, I’ll even post them on my site to make sure EVERYONE reads it.

After reading through my recent comments, i decided to create this entry to reply to a comment i recieved to "look below". Well anyway, here it is...

Okay Okay, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having only Tanae as a commenter on my site (everyone else is just too lazy). I could even say that it is a privillage to have her funny comments on my site and that they are what makes my site more interesting (but sorry im not going to say that). lol.

But i will say this. When Tanae becomes seriously famous i'll be there and saying "Hey guess what!!! Tanae used to comment on my personal web site all the time!" and then i'd sell the rights to my website for a billion dollars and become a billionaire. Then eventually Tanae can say 'Hey guess what!!! that billionaire used to comment on my website" and she could sell hers for a billion dollars. So the moral of this seriously crazy and stupid story is... don't stop commenting, Cause hey i wouldn't mind being filthy rich.

Hitlist status for the WDL created to inform the less fortunate (i.e. Tanae):

Sadam Hussein = Alive and in Some military Prison that starts with G.

Osama Bin Laden = Alive (pressumaly) probably hiding in some hole in the middle of no where.

John Howard = Good idea about the eyebrows we should mail them to his secret lover (George Bush)

George Bush = heavilly surrounded by his secret service agents (no match for the WDL's)

All terrorists =Alive until they strap them selves to explosives and blow them selves up

I've decided that after the WDL finishes with the current war between Tanae and Jenna, im guna send the minions after Osama Bin Laden and all other terrorists, Including George Bush and John Howard.

But seriously people terrorists are stupid and so is war. John Howard should be shot for joining his little bum budy (George Bush) in the war in Iraq. Seriously Australia is really a small powerless country in the whole scheme of things. George Bush only put up with us cause we are the main Pacific power (at the moment).

Who else should the WDL be sent after? Any ideas?

In a surprising turn of events, when Tanae took over her subagency, she has commisioned her minions, to extract her revenge on my good friend Jenna. When i asked her why, the only words out of her mouth were "she has the same username as me". Although it must be remembered that its only the beginning of there name. But hey if George Bush can start a war in IRAQ over oil, why cant a World War be started over a name.

This is the first war for The Secret League Of Scary Flying Animals That Will Make You Sick And Help Me To Take Over The Entire World, and it will also be the first test of its capabilities.

A later report on the aftermath will soon be submitted. We believe there will be only a 1% chance of survival while the other 99% will consist of the total destruction of Maitland,the entire Country of Australia or simply the death of Jenna (luckily luke has his invincible bubble proudly supplied by Tanae).

After that really cool comment from Tanae ive decided to call the agency " The Secret League Of Scary Flying Animals That Will Make You Sick And Help Me To Take Over The Entire World" or the WDL. Which stands for "The World Domination League". And because she gave me the bubble idea and the name she gets a part of the world and he own subagency inside my agence.

well i've decided i'll incorporate a mix of peoples ideas.

First i'd like everyone to welcome my newest breed of rampaging sponge monkeys, (RSM for short). They will be joining my other breeds of killer flying monkeys and talking one legged parrots as secret agents working for me. Only known by me, Tanae and em. (if anyone spills the beans, i'll send them after you to give you rabies and bird flu, but i wont get it cause i'll me in my INVISIBLE bubble (more of an shield thingy me-jig).

There's only one thing to decide. What is the name of the secret agency? Any ideas?

Movie Marathon

I went to a movie marathon on Sunday Night, went to sleep, on Monday morning around 7ish. The movies were Duce Bigalow: European Gigalow, stealth and the longest yard. I'd recommending all 3 movies. But i like all movies so be carefull with my recomendations.
